"Rectors of the Year" from university representatives were chosen in Moscow
The winners of the national award "Rector of the Year - 2020" was chosen from university representatives within the framework of the Professors Forum. The award ceremony was held on November 19 at the Ministry of science and higher education, minister Valery Falkov presented the awards to the winners.The expert jury evaluated the rector's contribution to the development of the University, reputation, personal achievements, assessment of interaction with the state, business, scientific and expert community. Other criteria include international cooperation, digitalization and innovation at the university, and media activity.
Anatoly Bataev, Rector of Novosibirsk State Technical University, won the nomination "Rector of Technical University". Vladimir Bublik, Rector of Ural State Law University, won the nomination "Rector of Law University". Alexander Trubilin, Rector of Kuban State Agrarian University, became the winner in the nomination "Rector of the Agricultural University". In the nomination "Rector of Medical University" - Rector of Voronezh State Medical University Igor Esaulenko. Mikhail Gruzdev, Rector of Yaroslavl State Pedagogical University named after K.D.Ushinsky, won the nomination "Rector of Pedagogical University". In the nomination "Rector of University of Culture", the winner was the Rector of Krasnodar State Institute of Culture Sergey Zengin.
Chairman of the Russian Professorial Assembly (organizer of the "Professors Forum - 2020") Vladislav Grib noted: « Rector of the year is the first award in the Russian history, when the academic community, the scientific elite of Russia, gives an independent public assessment to rectors. We assessed the rector's contribution comprehensively based on a set of indicators. And we did not assess specific universities, but the personality of their leaders. I am sure that the professorial community’s assessment is often just as important as the departments’ assessment. Rector of Ural State Law University is the undisputed leader of legal education. I have known Vladimir Bublik for a long time as a charismatic and effective leader, a professional with fighting qualities, not only in the figurative sense of the word».
Sergey Stepashin, Chairman of the Professorship Support Association, was the Chairman of the award jury. The jury consisted of HSE University Rector Yaroslav Kuzminov, Rector of the Russian State Agrarian University — Timiryazev Moscow Agricultural Academy Vladimir Trukhachev, RUDN President Vladimir Filippov, Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Irina Donnik, Rector of Peter the Great Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University Andrey Rudskoy, President of the Russian Academy of Education Yuriy Zinchenko, Rector of Moscow State Pedagogical University Igor Remorenko, and others.
The Rector of the year awards were presented as part of the Professorial forum, which ends in Moscow on November 19. The purpose of the forum is to determine the role of the scientific and educational elite of Russia in the effective implementation of national projects, including through interaction and partnership of legislative and executive authorities with the scientific and academic community.
