Meeting of the Council of Vice-Rectors for International Affairs

On March 19, 2020, the first meeting of the Council of Vice-Rectors for International Affairs was held at the Ural State Law University, which is an advisory and deliberative body of higher education organizations in the Sverdlovsk region within the framework of implementing state policy in the field of export of Russian education.

The decision to establish the Council of Vice-Rectors for International Affairs was made by the Council of Rectors of higher educational institutions of the Sverdlovsk region in order to ensure the global competitiveness of Russian education in accordance with thr Presidential Executive Order dated May 7, 2018 № 204 « On National Goals and Strategic Objectives of the Russian Federation through to 2024». One of the initiators of this Council establishment was the rector of the Ural State Law University, Doctor of law, Professor Vladimir Aleksandrovich Bublik.

The following participants took part in the meeting of the Council of Vice-Rectors for International Affairs as invited participants: Director of the Department for Foreign Economic and Humanitarian Cooperation of the Ministry of International and Foreign Economic Relations of the Sverdlovsk Region O.S. Alexandrin and the second secretary of the Representative Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia in Ekaterinburg N. S. Pavlova.

Rector of Ural State Law University V.A. Bublik addressed the participants in the meeting of the Council of Vice-Rectors for International Affairs with a welcoming speech, emphasizing the importance of creating such a body for promoting Russian education in the international arena in the context of state tasks in the field of higher education and science.

One of the main issues of the meeting of the Council of Vice-Rectors for International Affairs of educational institutions of higher education in the Sverdlovsk region was the election of the Chairman of the Council, by the unanimous decision of the Council members, taking into account the recommendations of the Council of Rectors of Higher Educational Institutions of the Sverdlovsk Region, the Vice-Rector for Science of the Ural State Law University Lyudmila Nikolaevna Berg was elected.

In her speech as the Chairman of the Council, Lyudmila Nikolaevna outlined the normative basis of the Council's activities and the main functions of the Council of Vice-Rectors for International Affairs.

In conclusion, the Council members discussed preparations for the international event - the II Russian-Kyrgyz forum of Rectors, which is scheduled to be held in Ekaterinburg in September this year.
