Meeting of the Council of Vice-Rectors for International Affairs

On the 23rd of December there was an online meeting of the Council of Vice-Rectors for International Affairs representing higher educational institutions of the Sverdlovsk Region. Chaired by Vice-Rector for Research, Doctor of Law Lyudmila Nikolaevna Berg, the meeting was devoted to the issues on working with foreign students in the pandemic period of the new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) spread within the territory of the Russian Federation.

The meeting of the Council of Vice-Rectors was aimed at creating a unified approach of the Ural universities to the implementation of the recommendations of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation on work with foreign students, defined by Dmitry Vladimirovich Afanasyev, the Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia, during the meeting held on the 9th of December, 2020.

The meeting was attended by vice-rectors and representatives of international affairs of the Ural Federal University named after the first President of Russia B.N.Yeltsin, Ural State Mining University, Russian State Vocational Pedagogical University, Ural State University of Railways, Ural State Medical University, Ural State University of Arts and Architecture, Ural State Pedagogical University and Ural Institute of Management of the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration under the President of the Russian Federation.

During the meeting the Council of Vice-Rectors discussed the issues of foreign students’ entry into Russia, their medical observation after the entry; exchange of information with foreign students; organization of the educational process for foreign students and forms of their social support.

Vice-rectors of universities of the Sverdlovsk Region shared their experience on working with foreign students during the pandemic and made decisions to intensify work with foreign students in order to further the export of Russian education and preserve the attractiveness of the Russian educational system in the pandemic.
