Rules for receiving and extending visas

Issuing a visa invitation to enter the Russian Federation 


In order to issue a visa invitation to enter the Russian Federation, a foreign applicant must submit (personally, by mail, fax or e-mail) the following documents to the International Relations Department of USLU:

- Completed application form;

- Copy of the first two pages of your passport.

Upon receiving an invitation to enter the Russian Federation, the department will send it to you. Please inquire in advance about the visa procedure at the Russian embassy in your country. The issuance of the invitation takes at least 45 days, so these documents should be submitted to the International Relations Department as early as possible.


Getting a new multiple-entry study visa

Please note that you can stay in the Russian Federation for as long as your single-entry visa is valid. You will need to extend your stay before it expires so that you can continue your studies. To do this, a foreign student must prepare and submit documents to the International Relations Department 50 days before the end of your valid visa.


List of required documents for applying for a new study visa (up to 1 year):

1. Copy of passport.

2. Copy of the migration card.

3. Copy of the tear-off form of the migration registration notification.

4. Application.

5. Receipt for payment of the state fee.

6. Photo (3Х4).

7. Copy of the educational services contract.

8. Negative HIV infection certificate.


Employees of the International Relations Department must submit documents for renewal no later than 30 days before the end of a valid visa of a foreign student. Otherwise, the foreign student will be obliged to leave the Russian Federation. Therefore, the student must come to the Department at least 50 days before the end of the valid visa.

If you have no reason to extend your stay, you must leave the Russian Federation before the end of your permitted stay.

After receiving a new visa, the migration registration procedure begins again.
